Excerpt: 24 years after the destruction of the second Death Star, the New Republic is floundering. Split between two bitterly divided political parties, the government is failing in its basic duties. Senator Leia attempts to reach across the aisle to launch a bi-partisan investigation of criminal activity, and finds far more than expected.
Bloodline is a very appropriate title, as the theme of the book is succession. Politically, militarily, and even in the galaxy’s ancient royal lines, transfer of power is at the center. This book deftly takes anyone from Return of the Jedi and gets them set for the galactic situation seen in The Force Awakens.
This is also a great book for character development, and through character development the examination of our memory of history. Not everyone in the New Republic believes the Empire was all bad.
