Join us for some fun songs to sing with your baby. You can make up your own words to familiar tunes. Try inserting your child’s name in some of the songs. Books highlighted today during Storytime can all found at the Marengo-Union Library in our Board Book section.

Today is National Sunscreen Day. Also known as “Don’t Fry Day”.
Mrs. Penny will talk about different ways to stay safe in the sun. Wearing a hat, applying sunblock, wearing sunglasses, and staying in the shade are all good ways to protect yourself from the powerful UVB rays.

You will also receive some random supplies to construct a shelter for your animal. You will be able to tell if your animal had enough shelter to keep it safe exposed to the sun. If the beads remain white, you’ve done a super job! Now trying drawing a picture on the sheet of black paper with the sunblock also included in your kit. Put your sunblock drawing by a window or outside. Check on it in 20 minutes. Note what happened to the part of your drawing that has sunblock on it.

Are you ready for a fun challenge this summer? Marengo-Union Library invites the whole family, everyone from age 1-100, to join in this year’s Summer Reading Program: Reading Colors Your World. Log your time reading virtually from the comfort of your home, at muldreads.readsquared.com. For those who have limited internet access, you can still participate by calling the Library to assist you with tracking.
The goal is to earn 1,000 points by reading 120 minutes each week over an 8 week period and completing 4 fun challenges, which vary by program. It also has games to play for fun! Just for participating, you’re entered into a raffle for gift cards, coupons and more every week you complete. Once you’ve completed the program, you get a free book!

Reading Rocks! A Virtual Music, Bubble and Comedy Show features wonderful classic and original children’s songs and tales. The show engages children with songs, comedy, bubbles, and music technology. Join us for this novel 40-minute performance which will be accompanied by visual and sensory experiences. Kids will dance, sing, laugh, use their imaginations and connect with new friends. The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and teachers!
