The USDA Forest Service is excited to collaborate with public library systems across the country on the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge in celebration of his 80th birthday.

Complete themed challenges, grab a bookmark, and learn about nature. Pick up a reading log from the front desk to join. Only YOU can prevent forest fires!

Join Mrs. Penny for a fun Fireplace Ornament craft. Your kit includes written directions, craft template, popsicle sticks, brown paint, colored paper/crepe pieces and Christmas ribbon.

From home you will need a paintbrush, scissors, and either Tacky glue or hot glue.

This craft is geared to age 5-11. Adult supervision recommended when using a hot glue gun. J

oin Mrs. Penny for a Pinecone Turkey table decoration. Your kit includes written directions, a template, pinecone, colorful pieces of scrapbooking paper and two googly eyes. From home you will need a pair of scissors and a glue gun to be used under adult supervision.

Don’t forget to clean up the scraps of paper and dispose of them properly when you are finished with your AWESOME turkey. Please send Mrs. Penny pictures of your creations to circulation@muld.org.

Join Mrs. Penny for Golf Ball Yard Art. Your kit includes written directions, idea sparks, acrylic paints, and a golf ball. Make sure you allow your ball to dry between coats of paint.

From home you will need a paintbrush. Optional googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and acrylic top coat or mod podge to protect your creation from the weather elements.

This craft is geared to age 5-11.

This craft involves paint 🙂 Follow along with Mrs. Penny as she demonstrates how to make a Popsicle Stick Mushroom House. Your craft kit includes written directions, 4 large wooden craft sticks, black cardstock, grey cardstock, gems and sequins, 2 popsicle sticks, red paint , white paint, and a small paper plate.

From home you will need a covered workspace, school glue, tacky glue, or a hot glue gun with a caregiver’s permission. Crayons and scissors will also be needed to complete this craft.
